CLIENT: Studio Liddell / The National Holocaust Centre & Museum
THE CHALLENGE: Our friends over at Studio Liddell were commissioned by The National Holocaust Centre & Museum to create an educational app, aimed at children and visitors to the musuem. We were approached by Studio Liddell and were tasked with filming a series of interviews with holocaust survivors, who each told their harrowing stories. This particular interview above, was to be used as an introduction to further content within the app.
HOW WE DID IT: We filmed over the course of an afternoon at the The National Holocaust Centre & Museum in Nottinghamshire, using one camera and an autocue. The focus needed to be on the interviewee, so we shot against a black screen within the museum’s main hall.
THE RESULTS: This was one of the hardest afternoon’s filming we’ve had to date, emotionally. The stories of loss and separation were extremely distressing to hear, but the tails of inspiration, resistance and determination to survive were mind blowing. Each of the survivors we filmed were amazing human beings, and we felt humbled to be called upon.
